SJ Therapeutic Arts

Creative Support for Emotional Wellbeing and Growth

SJ Therapeutic Arts is a core component of SJ Support Group, integrating creative and music-based practices to support emotional regulation, self-expression, and meaningful engagement. We offer instrumental lessons in drums, voice, piano, bass, and guitar, alongside creative art workshops. Through a flexible and individualised approach, we use creative experiences to help individuals connect, communicate, and build confidence in ways that feel natural, engaging, and empowering.

What We Offer

Our approach may include:

  • Music/Art based engagement
  • Instrumental Lessons in Drums, Piano, Guitar, Bass and Voice.
  • Instrumental exploration
  • Rhythm, sound, and voice work
  • Creative expression and guided activities
  • Engagement-based and regulation-focused strategies

These approaches are adapted to suit each individual’s needs, preferences, and goals.

Our Approach

SJ Therapeutic Arts is:

  • Person-centred — tailored to the individual

We aim to create a supportive and safe environment where individuals feel comfortable to explore, express, and grow.

Supporting Wellbeing Through Creativity

Creative engagement can support:

  • Emotional regulation
  • Confidence and self-esteem
  • Communication and self-expression
  • Focus and engagement
  • Social connection and participation

Our approach is designed to meet individuals at all stages of life exactly where they are, supporting wellbeing in a way that feels accessible and meaningful.

Instrumental Learning & Creative Development

We also offer instrumental learning as part of our approach. These sessions are:

  • Flexible and student-led
  • Focused on creativity and enjoyment
  • Adapted to individual learning and engagement needs

Instrumental learning is used not only to develop musical skills, but also to support focus, confidence, and self-expression.

Creative Support, Meaningful Connection through SJ Therapeutic Arts

SJ Therapeutic Arts may benefit children, young people, and adults who are seeking creative or alternative approaches to support, including those working on emotional regulation, confidence, engagement, and communication.

Through instrumental lessons in drums, voice, piano, bass, and guitar, as well as creative art-based experiences, we provide meaningful, hands-on opportunities that support self-expression, focus, and skill development in a safe and supportive environment.

Our approach is trauma-informed, relational, and strengths-based, recognising that creativity can be a powerful way to support emotional regulation, connection, and confidence-building. We meet individuals where they are at, allowing them to engage in ways that feel natural, achievable, and enjoyable.

SJ Therapeutic Arts is a core part of SJ Support Group and is available to NDIS participants (where applicable), as well as schools, families, and broader support teams.

We work collaboratively with families, schools, and support coordinators to ensure a consistent and connected approach across all environments. Our focus is on creating a calm, encouraging, and supportive space where individuals can explore creativity, build confidence, develop new skills, and feel genuinely supported and understood.
